Meet the Principal

Greetings Richard Allen Staff and Families,
My name is Michael Benton and it is my pleasure and an honor that I have the opportunity to serve as your Instructional Leader here at Richard Allen Prep 3-8. I have two Associate Degrees (1987, 1989) as well as a B.S. in Early Childhood Education (1991) from the University of Cincinnati. I returned to school to earn my M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Xavier University (2001). Having a thirst for knowledge, I enrolled and received my M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati in 2012.
I have been employed with the Cincinnati Public School District for 30 years. I have taught preschool, KDG and 1st Grade. During my years with the district, I have held various leadership positions as a teacher at both the school and District Levels. I also had the opportunity to serve as the Supervisor for the Department of Early Childhood from August 2012 to July 2014. I recently held the Assistant Principal position at our Districts largest elementary school where I had the opportunity to work with 110 staff members and 793 students in grades Pre-K through 6th.
All of my various leadership opportunities have prepared me with the necessary skill set to provide effective leadership as I embark on this next journey in my educational career.
I look forward to working with all the stake holders here at Richard Allen Prep 3-8. My number one priority is to lead collaboratively to assist the staff in their efforts to ensure the students here at Richard Allen Prep 3-8 exhibit high academic success and excellence in all aspects of their educational journey.
I look forward to working with you and getting to know each and every one of you as the year progresses. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and/or concerns.
